Julia's Story

“Being diagnosed with epithelial ovarian cancer at the age of 26 was not the fertility clinic outcome I was hoping for. In June 2015 I began three rounds of chemotherapy before major abdomen surgery at Princess Margaret Hospital. Moving forward, my treatment plan relies solely on successful operations, the next one being a major chest surgery in January 2016. Pink Pearl is an inspiring organization that I am so thankful to have connected with! While I’ve been blessed to receive the incredible support of my husband, families and friends, it was such a gift to share experiences and forge friendships with fellow young women battling cancer. My ultimate inspiration is HOPE. This is a term I’ve wrestled with over the past six months, but I’ve come to find that true hope must be rooted in something bigger than circumstances. My faith in Jesus throughout this difficult journey has taught me what it means to “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” – Romans 12:12”
